Luke was very tired yesterday. They have increased one of his painkillers and tell us it’s a balance between trying to get his pain under control and not knocking him out. When he sleeps so much, it’s hard to see progress, but we hope that resting will help him to recover. His facial muscles seem to be improving slightly, and they are beginning to very slowly reduce the ventilation so that he is starting to breathe for himself a bit more. He continues to sweat profusely and yet is cold to the touch and hasn’t got a temperature. They think this is one of the out workings of the GBS, but it’s very uncomfortable for Luke. They are planning on replacing the tracheostomy today sometime, as it’s been in for two weeks and should really be replaced every 10 days.
Please pray 1 For his pain relief to be adjusted to just the right amount, so that Luke may get adequate rest, but also have wakeful times. 2 For the sweating to reduce so that Luke feels comfortable 3 For staff, especially at night to be able to understand him better. Monday night was difficult as the nurse couldn’t understand him at all and he was very uncomfortable throughout the night. 4 For the new trache to be fitted without too much discomfort for Luke or any complications 5 Continue to pray for total healing 6 That whether waking or sleeping Luke would know God speaking to him and loving him. He has had several prophetic words about this being a time for that.
This song was playing in the car on the way to the hospital yesterday
‘Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death Your perfect love is casting out fear And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life I won’t turn back, I know You are near For I will fear no evil, for my God is with me And if my God is with me, whom then shall I fear? Whom then shall I fear?
O no! You never let go, through the calm and through the storm O no! you never let go, every high and every low O no! you never let go, Lord, you never let go of me!
And I can see a light, that is coming for the heart that holds on And there will be an end to these troubles, but until that day comes Still I will praise You! Still I will praise You!’
Jesus has been with us throughout this trial and we continue to look to Him, praise Him and trust Him for today and every day. With much love and many thanks
