GBS Update: Monday 19th April 2010

Thank you from our hearts for holding Luke up in prayer yesterday. I went to be with him in the morning whilst Gary went to church. He had slept for about 5 hours and was looking and feeling brighter. He had realised in the night that he could slightly move his hips, which was a huge encouragement! We are talking about a couple of centimetres one way and the other, but enough for him to feel and us to see and for Gary to call it an ‘Elvis wriggle‘!!!. He also had a lovely nurse looking after him who it turns out is a Christian. I don’t think she realised she was an answer to prayer! The doctors told us he is on anti biotics for a chest infection, but that his chest muscles were stronger yesterday. He slept during the afternoon and by the end of the day he was quite chirpy. He continues to get very hot and blotchy and his heart rate is quite fast, but they are monitoring that.

Please pray

1 Thanking our Mighty God for the answers to prayer so far. We are now able to print off the updates and read them to Luke, so he can see the how God is answering our prayers.

2 For Luke to increasingly sleep well at night especially

3 For the healing of the chest infection

4 For his body temperature and heart rate to stabilise

5 For God to continue to speak to him, hold him, heal him completely

6 For Gary returning to work today, life getting back to normal and yet still not being normal at all!

We continue to believe the promises of God over all of our lives. This verse from a song we sang at the Brighton conference last year has come to our minds many times over the last few weeks.

‘When peace, like a river, attendeth my way When sorrows like sea billows roll Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say It is well, it is well with my soul.’

‘I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my Saviour; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.’ Psalm 18: 1-2
