GBS Update: Wednesday 14th April 2010

Thank you so much for all your prayers yesterday. Luke was so much better and had slept for almost 12 hours. His face looked bright and the confusion and fear he had been feeling had gone, an amazing answer to prayer! We spent most of yesterday at the hospital, visiting Luke and discussing with the doctors Luke’s transfer to Southampton, which at the moment is due to take place on Friday. This is what they are aiming for, but there are no guarantees as it depends on a bed in Southampton being available on Friday. If there are no emergencies then it should happen, but we won’t know for sure until the day! The doctors have said that he is stable enough for the move, and that if they thought he was at risk they wouldn‘t move him. The physios tell Luke that his arms are strengthening, and we feel that communication is becoming easier. Chris, who we are staying wit,h is an eye doctor at the hospital and has seen Luke and has arranged for him to have some rimless, large lensed glasses to use with the computer. What an amazing God we have!

Please pray 1 Continue to pray for God to overrule on the timing of transfer, we really want the best for Luke 2 That he would continue to rest well, and that his body would increasingly strengthen and recover 3 For Luke to constantly know God’s great love for him in this trial, and that he would continue to be free from fear 4 For complete recovery for Luke. The doctor was talking yesterday about the possibility of him needing ventilation for months or even up to a year! Please pray that our Mighty God would intervene and that Luke’s need for a ventilator would be short. 5 For our lovely sons at home, who yesterday had to deal with a power cut and blocked toilets!

The cards, mails and messages still keep coming and are a great encouragement to us! Luke loves hearing from people, I think it gives him a link to the outside world and brings some ‘normality’ to the situation.

‘The Lord your God is with you; He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.’ Zephaniah 3:17

There have been many times here when we have known God quieting us with His love, throughout this trial. There is none like Him. We wholeheartedly believe He is Mighty to save, and know that He will bring good out of all He takes us through. We are told to ‘pray without ceasing’ and we thank each of you for persisting with us, in bringing Luke before the One who can heal.

With our love

Gary and Debbie
